we got dicks like jesus/who that man in a black sedan with two cheap hookers and a mexican?

Mickey Avalon is awesome! His self-titled debut is straight out old school hip-hop... I mean, it is old school hip-hop with a twist of Peaches. Yes, you read it right; Mickey Avalon is kind of like the male equivalent of Peaches. Don’t believe me.... just listen to "Roll the Dice". The album kind of starts out in a humorous tone with "Waiting to Die". It opens with the sample "We are going to have open sexual intercourse on every street corner of America." Not only that, the first line you hear from Mickey Avalon is an homage to Grandmaster Flash... well, not exactly the same lyrics: "it’s like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder, that god must be one sick motherfucker!" This first track kicks freaking ass!! In "Jane Fonda", Mickey produced perhaps the greatest fitness song ever: "One, two, three, four, get your booty on the dance floor. Work it out, shake it little momma, let me see you do the Jane Fonda. Five, six, seven now, if you don’t know, let me show you how to work it out… work it little momma, I know you wanna do the Jane Fonda…" Move over Kanye West, Mickey Avalon clearly has a greater hip-hop workout tune. The record is full of heavy-hitting and funky beats from 80s hip-hop... but don’t worry 80s haters, he also uses modern gangster as well as house beats throughout the record. There is even a mid-90s alternative sound in "Friends and Lovers". In fact, Mickey’s vocal here sounds parallel to Beck’s "Where It’s At"... or any Beck materials from Mellow Gold and Odelay. One thing I absolutely can’t stand in many hip-hop/rap albums now-a-days is that almost all of the mainstream artists rap about themselves in every single song! I mean, what is up with that!?!?! Well, Mickey Avalon is no difference; however, he does it in a somewhat humorous context, it fits his style and his persona. Anyways, the album closes with another heavily 80s influenced track in "Romeo and Juliet"; and finally, "My Dick"... which I won’t even get into... just listen to it... it is wickedly awesome... and funny! Hands down, Mickey Avalon has put out the best hip-hop album of the year! Sorry MC Lars, yours is now second best.
