tokyo police club: elephant shell

Reminder: Tokyo Police Club will be doing a FREE in-store show at Criminal Records (493 Queen St. West, Toronto) today (Saturday, May 3) at 12:30 pm!

I am absolutely in love with Tokyo Police Club's new record, Elephant Shell! It is full of adorable and catchy songs; each track has its own charm along with some clever and witty lyrics. I can't think of anything negative to say about this record, I have been listening to it since the beginning of March and I still can't get enough of it! I am so glad that the band’s long awaited full-length debut lives up to their smash success EP... it must be such a relief for them! Check out the songs below, come out and see the boys play at Criminal Records and pick up Elephant Shell (as well as a sweet poster designed by Jeremy Wilson of Pop Fuel)... Elephant Shell is indeed the perfect laid-back summer album!

Tokyo Police Club recently released a brand new single entitled "Your English Is Good". It is another fun, simple, and fast track very similar to those on A Lesson In Crime EP.

vietnam fishing trips, italian opera

Went to the Cold War Kids/Tokyo Police Club show last night at The Mod Club. Stupid me brought the camera, but forgot the memory card at home... so I was only able to take a handful of pictures. As I expected, Cold War Kids stole the show... Nathan Willett’s vocal was wonderful... that man can sing!!

The boys from Tokyo Police Club joined Cold War Kids on stage to perform "Saint John".

there's a good chance we won't make it to the big dance

I am seeing the Cold War Kids/Tokyo Police Club concert tonight! However, I am a little disappointed to find out that Cold Wars Kids is only playing for 45mins while Tokyo Police Club has a longer set and is actually the closing band. Personally, I rather see CWK for longer… hatever… i’m sure it'll be a fine show!

one of my favorite new band names

After months and months of hearing the name Tokyo Police Club, and being kind of interested in hearing the band’s music solely due to the band’s name, I have finally caved in and listened to A Lesson In Crime, TPC’s debut EP. It is a typical indie rock album with the typical indie rock sound. Don’t get me wrong, it is an excellent EP: fast, Strokes sounding rock songs. In my opinion, having seven songs on the EP is just the right amount before it becomes redundant; it will be interesting to see how they’d sound on a full-length release.
