HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!
I've always pay extra attention to bands with nature and earthy subject matter in their songs (as I am a pretty big nature-lover myself); check out some my favourite music + nature projects from the past few years below.
National Parks Project
NPP is a Canadian music and film project created to document the stunning Canadian landscape and to celebrate Parks Canada's 100th anniversary—the world's first national parks system! I absolutely LOVE everything to do with this project: incredible soundtrack, beautiful coin design, and one of the best looking interactive site I have ever experienced!
Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore: Dear Companion / End mountaintop removal
An environmentally conscious and heartfelt record that raises awareness of mountaintop removal coal mining across Appalachia. Please go to iLoveMountains.org to learn more about this issue.
Sun Boxes
Arkansas-based carpenter and sound artist, Craig Colorusso has created a brilliant interactive art installation of music + nature entitled Sun Boxes. Sun Boxes is a sustainable project composed of twenty boxes playing twenty different guitar loops to create a one-of-a-kind experience powered by the sun.
