The National have a new song entitled "Exile Vilify" for the high-anticipated video game Portal 2!
It’s pretty good and all, but nothing beats the end credit song—"Still Alive" by Jonathan Coulton—from the first game!

song of the moment: grouper's "alien observer"
Happy Tuesday morning everyone! How about starting off your day with this beautiful song by Liz Harris, aka Grouper:
Grouper recently released A | A—a two-part (Dream Loss and Alien Observer) release comprised of songs written and recorded over the last four years. Vinyl copies of the two releases are going FAST, but there are still some left over at Forced Exposure... good luck!

for the cowards in the corner who just don't know what they're worth
How was everyone’s Record Store Day adventures yesterday? I got most of the things on my list; however, the one thing that I really wanted was Villagers’ Live at the Workman's Club in Dublin LP—it wasn’t available in North America. (Luckily, I was able to pick up the Villagers/Charlotte Gainsbourg 7-inch... love it!) So wanting to hear the Live at the Workman's Club in Dublin LP so badly, I searched and successfully downloaded it this morning. It is absolutely brilliant—every song is just perfect, Conor J O’Brien sounds incredible live! Check out the video for "The Meaning of The Ritual", Live at the Workman's Club below. (If anyone knows where I can buy this online... not ebay... please let me know. Thanks!)

happy record store day
Happy Record Store Day everyone!!! Here are some of my top picks this year:
GlassJaw: Worship And Tribute
This is the one record I am looking forward to the most—available for the first time on vinly, it has been 10 years in the making—so fucking stoked for this!
Daft Punk: Tron Soundtrack
Coolest packaging/picture disc ever!!!
Hüsker Dü/Green Day 7"
It’s fucking Hüsker Dü... need I say more?
Featuring "Don’t Want to Know If You Are Lonely" from Candy Apple Grey and Green Day’s cover of it.
Fleet Foxes: Helplessness Blues/Grown Ocean 12"
Two tracks off of the band’s upcoming record, Helplessness Blues, out on May 3rd, only get it if you really can’t wait for the release of the full-length!
Nirvana: Hormoaning EP
First time this EP will be released in North America.
OFF!: Live at Generation Records 7"
I really can't get enough of this band, this 7-inch features 4 tracks recorded at Generation Records.
Deerhunter: Memory Boy 7"
"Memory Boy" single with a previously unreleased track "Nosebleed"—I have yet to hear a bad Deerhunter b-side.
Villagers/Charlotte Gainsbourg 7"
Side A is "Set the Tigers Free" from Villagers’ gorgeous record Becoming a Jackal, while Side B is a song written by Conor J. O’Brien and performed by Charlotte Gainsbourg... should be good!
If you live in Toronto, all of the above titles are available at Criminal Records—Please go support your local music stores!

sundials: never settle
Holy shit, another fantastically nostalgic sounding album—Sundials’ Never Settle is brilliant! Insanely catchy, it’s like all my favourite punk/indie bands from the 90s merged to form a super band... think Jawbreaker + The Promise Ring + Guided by Voices + Pavement... so fucking good!
