In response to Brendan Uriem's comment ("Emo is bullshit. We want to be the new Radiohead.")... probably one of the funniest quotes of the year, go pick up World Waits by Jeremy Enigk - one of the most significant songwriters of the 90s. Enigk, along with Blake Schwartzenbach are the fathers of modern emo... they lay down the blueprint for the next generation of emo music. I posted the entire album back while I was in Japan, that means you had about three months now to listen (and hopefully by now, is in love) with World Waits... so go support one of the most important men in indie music history.

Ok, who the hell elected Brendan Uriem (panic! at the disco) as the spokeperson for emo?? First, there is that hilarious on the cover of the new NME:

Emo is bullshit. We want to be the new Radiohead.

WTF?!!!?!?! and in that issue, Uriem claimed,

...It’s ignorant! The stereotype is guys that are weak and have falling relationships write about how sad they are. If you listen to our songs, not one of them has that tone...

Even more WTF!!!?!?!?? Conclusion, Brendan Uriem has absolutely no clue as to what emo is. Maybe he should give me a call and I can lecture him on the history of the genre... for now, he should start listening to some Rites Of Spring and Hüsker Dü, you ignorant bastard!!!

Ps, and what’s with the stupid-ass make-ups???? While David Bowie and Patrick Wolf can seamlessly pull of the whole make-up thing, the guys from Panic! look like a bunch of poser fags!
