Here's some exciting P.Wolf news: Patrick Wolf will be releasing his next single, "Damaris" on December 14th! The single will be available in two formats:

A video to accompany the single will also be released sometime in November. It was directed by Patrick in collaboration with Director of Photography Rory Broadfoot.

Holy crap, it has been a whole week since I updated this blog... sorry, I just have been sort of busy/lazy at the same time!

Noah and the Whale new record The First Days of Spring will be out on October 6th in the US (August 31st in UK). There will also be a series of live dates and screenings of the film (OMG!)

Brand New released their first single, "At The Bottom" off of their upcoming record, Daisy on Tuesday. You can get the single from iTunes. Go to Spin.com for a great interview with Jesse Lacey.

Port O’Brien is heading out for a fall tour with Sea Wolf. Their new record, threadbare is out on October 6th, you can download a brand new song over at Stereogum.

Gallows are heading back to North America with AFI and Flogging Molly, go to the band’s MySpace for the dates.

"Cone of Light", a brand new song from King Khan & BBQ Show + The Black Lips hybrid aka The Almighty Defenders is available for download via Vice Records.

Here’s a little write-up of my NXNE experience:

This year’s festival was probably one of the most (if not THE most) lively music events I have experienced in Toronto... congrats to the folks who put the festival together! The sheets were buzzing with remarkable music each night and I saw countless enthusiastic/cheerful music lovers wandering from venue to venue till late at night/early morning.

Highlights from NXNE/bands I would see over and over again:

Patrick Wolf
Absolutely spectacular! Quite a few of you knew of my dislike/disappointment of the new record prior to this concert. I have listened to The Bachelor no less than 10 times since then!

The Daredevil Christopher Wright
Hands down my favourite discovery in this year’s festival.
Get their debut full-length, In Deference to a Broken Back here... or if you are in the Toronto area, it is available exclusively at Criminal Records.

Crystal Antlers
High energy and very entertaining, more reasons to love Tentacles!

Japanther
Another high energy band—good old punk music!

This band was a surprise; I didn’t think they would be this amazing live! Their music makes more sense in concert form, but I still love Black Square!

Ghost Bees
What an astonishing set at Bread and Circus Saturday night! Not only are the two sisters extremely talented musicians, they are frakking hilarious as well!

This is what Patrick has to say about the video:

"For me this video is my homage to two of my biggest heroes, Elvis Presley and Klaus Nomi. I always wondered what both of those geniuses would be doing if they were both still with us. Elvis and Klaus were some of the greatest radical visionaries the world has ever seen, never forget them. This is my first music video shot outside of the United Kingdom, filmed all on Pier 52, I think, on Manhattan Island, a couple of piers down from the home of Studio 54. The outfit I am wearing was made by my long term collaborator Ada Zanditon out of bin bags from Whitechapel Market in London flown to New York in its own suitcase at great excess baggage cost. It was an absolute mind altering experience working with Ace Norton, This guy is definitely the Michel Gondry of my generation. I cant wait to collaborate with him and his amazing team in the future. Big love to all the dancers, make up artists and performance artists in the video, to Charles Manning for making the costumes for my army and to Marvin for making this all happen for me and my hard times song."

Looks like Patrick Wolf will be in Toronto on June 17th at the Mod Club with Jaguar Love! Kind of weird that Jaguar Love is opening... but that's fine with me since I am a fan of them/The Blood Brothers (R.I.P.). Oh, and I think this event is part of NXNE.
