I meant to post this earlier today, but Blogger was acting crazy and I couldn’t update. I’m at Hart House right now searching for the NME that featured an article on Patrick wolf. I am seeing The Omen tonight! (I know, it’s going to suck, but it should be fun) Haha, oh yeah, it’s 6.6.6. today... what does that mean? I don’t know... but I guess it gives me a reason to post a totally random track onto this blog... so here it is:

So I was mostly away from my laptop the past couple of days (hence the lack of updates). Yesterday was a gorgeous day, I went to the Wells’ place: spent the afternoon on the pool deck, talked and drank... and had dinner afterward... it was a great time! (btw, Mrs. Wells, if you are reading this, thanks for making me a "special" meal) Today, I watched a lot of TV: this cartoon called Clone High, Canadian Idol (I love the beginning stages of the Idol shows, they are always so funny), and I also watched game one of the Stanley Cup final, which I do not want to talk about!!!!!!!!! I also read a lot and talked to Millie on the phone... she’s back in Toronto!!! Anyways, I must stop now before this rant goes out of control. S0 ok, now to the real point of this post:

Gregory Euclide has one of the most unique styles I have seen in recent years. The major theme of most of his pieces has more or less to do with the environment. To be more precise, he combines natural environments such as landscapes with men-made environments such as roads and buildings: Euclide combines natural beauties with magnificence human creations. Instead of using clichés such as juxtaposing the untouched nature vs. the destructiveness of men creations, Euclide finds beauties in both and unifies the two to create breathtaking pieces. He carefully combines lines, colours, and textures by using acrylic, pencil, pen, stickers, and typeset to bring together landscapes and architectures to create magnificent beauties. Euclide also combines digital styles and traditional styles to further highlight the theme of nature and men-made environments. I really wished that I have my own style like Gregory Euclide, but according to Art School Confidential, I am way too young to have my own style... apparently, I need to experiment more. aaahhhhh... more new xiu xiu!!

Oh my stars and garters, what’s with all the leaked albums!!! I’m not complaining, but I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of high quality music this past week! First Thom Yorke’s The Eraser, now Xiu Xiu’s The Air Force, which is not due out until September 15... that’s like more than three months away! What is going on?!?! Anyways, download the album below. Enjoy!

the clouds were really low on thursday night...

The photos below were taken at around 8:00pm at St. George and Devonshire Place (near the U of T varsity arena).
I thought is was really cool as the top of most skyscrapers were covered by clouds; even parts of the CN Tower were taken over by clouds... it was truly a spectacular view! Such a beautiful night too!!

Björk A to Z

I hope you all liked my Patrick Wolf A to Z post. If not, here’s another attempt at the A to Z thing, the artist this time is Björk, enjoy!

A is for Army of Me: Remixes and Covers. Released in May of 2005, it is an album which features 20 covers and remixes of Björk’s "Army of Me". Bands and artists from all around the world contributed to this album, including this blog’s favorite: Patrick Wolf!

B is for Björk, the title for her first solo album. She recorded the album when she was only 11 years old. It includes covers by Stevie Wonder and The Beatles.

C is for "Cvalda", a track from Dancer In The Dark.

D is for Dancer In The Dark. A film in which Björk won for best actress at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival. D is for "Domestica", a b-side on the Pagan Poetry single.

E is for Eiko Ishioka, the director for "Cocoon" video.

F is for Fluke Magimix, the remixed version of "Big Time Sensuality" used in the music video directed by Stéphane Sednaoui. F is also for Foot Soldier, which was released as a b-side on the Hidden Place single.

G is for Gling-Gló. Released in 1990, it was an album Björk recorded with the Icelandic jazz group Gudmundar Ingólfssonar Trio.

H is for Homogenic, my favorite album by Björk. H is also for "Human Behaviour", the first single from Debut, released in June 1993.

I is for Iceland, where Björk’s from.

J is for The Juniper Tree, Björk’s first acting role. J is also for "Jóga", one of my favorite songs by Björk.

K is for Kelis. The r & b artist did a duet with Björk on an alternate version of "Oceania". K is also for "Komið", a bonus on the Japanese version of Medúlla.

L is for is for Björk’s laptop, which influenced Vespertine. Björk explained in the June 2001 issue of Fader: "Vespertine was very influenced by my laptop, and about people being obsessed with Napster and saying it compromised sound and me thinking that was rubbish. Alot of the beats were influenced by me thinking someone could download it and it would sound great."

M is for Madonna’s "Bedtime Stories", a track Björk co-wrote. M is also for "Mother Heroic", a b-side from the Hidden Place single.

N is for November 21, 1965 – Björk’s birthday!

O is for "Oceania", a song off Medulla. Björk performed "Oceania" during the opening ceremony at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

P is for "Play Dead". A non-album track used in the film The Young Americans (1993).

Q is for Q Awards. Björk received the Inspiration Award at the Annual Q Magazine Awards in October 2005.

R is for Rahzel, a beatboxer from the rap group The Roots. Rahzel provides beats for five songs on Medúlla.

S is for Sugercubes. Björk was the lead singer of Sugercubes in the late 80s/early 90s. S is also for Selmasongs, the film soundtrack to Dancer In The Dark.

T is for Thom Yorke. Thom recorded a duet with Björk for the song "I’ve Seen it All", which appeared in the film Dancer In The Dark.

U is for "Úm Akkeri", the Icelandic version of "The Anchor Song".

V is for Vespertine, released in 2001. V is also for the beautiful track, "Venus As A Boy".

W is for Paul White, the director of Hunter. W is also for the rap supergroup, Wu-Tang Clan... Wu-Tang’s RZA remixed "Bachelorette".

X is for X-Files. Björk’s "Hunter" was featured in the X-Files movie soundtrack.

Y is for "You Only Live Twice". A never released song originally intented for a compilation which features covers of various James Bond songs; however, the track was withdrawn by Björk in the end.

I was skeptical about a solo project by Thom Yorke at first, but after getting my hands on The Eraser a few days ago and listening to it non-stop (that is not an exaggeration, I have listened to it about 10 times in the past 2/3 days) , I have concluded that this album is amazing!!!!!!!! Btw, I love the cover art!

The Eraser comes out on July 11, go buy it!

UPDATE [@ 6:59 pm] So I lied... I didn’t update the blog nonstop today... I spent most of my afternoon trying to fix my desktop with my cousin; however, the thing is still broken!! I also saw this movie called Dear Wendy – a very good film!! Anyways, I am working on the next A to Z list... it’s going to be good, stay tuned!

why do i always post stuffs at like 4 in the morning?

I just had a lengthen conversation with Millie (still in Japan) on MSN. It was really good talking to her, she showed me a bunch of really cool pictures - so jealous!

So I was walking down Queen St. tonight and saw Final Fantasy on the cover of Exclaim!... very cool... go pick up a copy or read the article online here. I guess I should to go bed now, bye.

I am really digging Bitter Hands Resign by A Northern Chorus right now. It is such a good album! It sounds kind of Sigur Rós slash Radiohead-ish... well, more like Sigur Rós, but with more vocals, and lyrics that are actually understandable. Every single song on Bitter Hands Resign is beautifully composed, and like many Sigur Rós songs, they embed this surreal, dream-like, heroic quality in their music. This is North America answer to Sigur Rós... I can already foresee Arni & Kinski directing a music video for A Northern Chorus. By the way, I tend to be a little biased at times, but maybe the reason why I am liking A Northern Chorus so much is because they are Canadian. Nonetheless, Canadian or not, Bitter Hands Resign is an incredible record!
