Portishead released a brand new track today entitled "Chase the tear" for Amnesty International!

It is available as an exclusive download single from 7 digital, all earnings are going towards Amnesty's human rights work.



Today is International Human Rights Day and it marks the anniversary of the United Nation's historic "Universal Declaration Of Human Rights" on December 10th of 1948. The UDHR set out for the first time in a single document the fundamental rights to which everyone, everywhere is entitled—including the right to life, liberty, security, the freedoms of opinion, association and expression, and the right not to be subjected to torture or cruel, inhumane and degrading treatment.

Here is my two cents on Third, the highly-anticipated new album by Portishead:

Cons:

• Beth Gibbons’ "witch-like"/weird voice is gone
  
• The absence of scratching/turntable effects

Pros:

• Gibbons’ voice is still gorgeously haunting
  
• Gibbons’ voice also sounds vulnerable at times... absolutely stunning!
  
• Musically more rhythm driven than previous albums
  
• The majority of the album sounds like something from 1970s Italian horror flicks!
  
• Machine Gun (my favourite song of the moment) is the first single

Conclusion:
Although not necessarily "trip-hop" sounding, Third still possesses the classic Portishead sound quality. It is a magnificently dark and surreal album by a timeless band.

Back in December, Portishead performed three very special shows in front of some very lucky people in Minehead, UK. Their sets included old favourites as well as what everyone was waiting for: a handful of new songs! Some wonderful soul recorded the second show and posted it on the interweb… thank you sincerely to that individual for doing so!

Hey people, sorry for the non-update-day yesterday... I was crazy busy getting art supplies and doing some incredibly messy printings. Second, to make up for my absent yesterday, I have uploaded the entire Swan Lake album, Beast Moans, for your enjoyment. Swan Lake features members from Destroyer, New Pornographers, Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and Frog Eyes. Since I am not a fan of any of those bands, I did not give a crap about this band at first. However, I like to give... or at least try to give all music a try. So, I checked out Swan Lake, and to my surprise, Beast Moans is actually not too bad!
