song of the moment: grouper's "alien observer"

Happy Tuesday morning everyone! How about starting off your day with this beautiful song by Liz Harris, aka Grouper:

Grouper recently released A | A—a two-part (Dream Loss and Alien Observer) release comprised of songs written and recorded over the last four years. Vinyl copies of the two releases are going FAST, but there are still some left over at Forced Exposure... good luck!

happy new year + new grouper!

Gorilla Vs. Bear posted a brand new Grouper song, "Vessel" on New Year's day. The song is taken from a new split 12" from Grouper and Roy Montgomery; the rest of the Grouper song on the release are "Hollow Press", "Hold the Way", and "Pulse".

i'd rather fall in your tidal waves

Man, I just found out that Grouper is opening for Animal Collective... I am totally kicking myself for not getting tickets to the Toronto Show!

I cannot stop listening to Dragging a Dead Deer Up a Hill and "Heavy Water/I'd Rather Be Sleeping" is seriously one of the best songs EVER!

Check out my post on Grouper here and make sure you download the songs from that post!

grouper: dragging a dead deer up a hill

If I were to make my favourite albums of 2008 list now, I would include Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill by Grouper on it... and it would be pretty high up on the list too—probably somewhere in the top 15! Grouper is very lo-fi sounding: quiet ambient drone music and Liz Harris’ cloudy echoing vocal. Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill is one of the most comforting albums I have ever heard... imagine a dreamy misty fall night... I absolutely love to play this record while reading or drawing.
