cyberspace and reds

The Streets released a mixtape entitled Cyberspace and Reds yesterday. The 13-track mixtape is free; however, you have to get the Mike Scanner app from the Apple app store, have an iPhone and a can of Heinz Beans... go here for more details.

For those without an iphone (like me), the mixtape is quite easy to find via simple Google search.

Cyberspace and Reds is a great precursor to what could be The Streets' final album, Computer and Blues (out on February 7!) It features some of those brilliant tracks from The Streets’ YouTube Channel such as "Backseat Barz", "Cinema Barz", and "Breakbat Barz". I am really loving this mixtape at the moment, I hope Computer and Blues can live up to it!

Video for "The Meaning Of The Ritual" by Villagers—one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite albums from last year. Love the lines: "My love is selfish/How it separates the earth/It takes every shiny stone but leaves the dirt/For the cowards in the corner who just don't know what they're worth"

Here's a video by Japanese hardcore band Envy. The track, "Worn Heels and the Hands We Hold" is taken from their epically wonderful album Recitation.

r.i.p. trish keenan

My favourite Broadcast song of all time:

Valerie [super-wicked-cool song]

Inside the mask another disguise
I fall to sleep before closing my eyes
Tiredness draws, in my head a cartoon
Sun at the window, good things coming soon

Shake your earrings over my head
Lay down your dreams on my pillow
Before bed

The silence of ice at the borders of day
Sun in my face will not keep them away
Sinking into the white of your room
Sky through the curtain, good things coming soon

Shake your earrings over my head
Lay down your dreams on my pillow
Before bed

street trials through incredible landscape and architecture = ftw!

If you haven’t seen it already, you MUST check out this incredible short film that follows Danny MacAskill riding from Edinburgh back to his hometown of Dunvegan in the Isle of Skye. The two songs used in the video are "Wax and Wire" by Loch Lomond and "A Little Piece" by The Jezabels.

This reminds me of when Mike Skinner walked from Dover, England to France:
